Is it legal/safe for my wood burning stove's chimney to bend at a 90 to exit at the top of my foundation?

Hi. I’m planning on installing a wood burning stove in my basement. I want to avoid the expense of taking the chimney up through my house and out the roof. Is there a legal and safe alternative to doing this? Thanks for your advice.

Which is the best wood burning stove to use in our fireplace?

We have a fire place which provides very little heat and the logs burn fast. Has anyone put a wood burning stove in their fireplace for more effecient heating? If so where can I find out about them, and buy one. Should I get one with a fan to blow the hot air out of the fireplace. We have tons of wood to use. Thanks

We have wood burning stove, have a couple of tea kettles on it and add about 3 gallons per day, how does this compare to a humidifier adding water into the atmosphere of the house. Especially if we only added 3 gallons to the humidifier

If I place a wood burning stove in my regularly used open fireplace do I still need to line the chimney or can I run the flu part way up the chimney and just use a blanking plate?

The house is 160 years old but the fireplace in question is good and solid and there are no ‘leaks’ with an the open fire.

Many thanks.
